A wash basin and sink is one of the most important accessories used in our house. These make our daily routine practice easier. Whether a basin is in the bathroom or a sink in the kitchen, it has to look clean and good. These should be maintained well, as they mark the hygiene level of our house.
Cleaning of such an accessory should be done regularly, especially if it’s of light color or made up of stainless steel. The simple procedure of cleaning up a basin is done in every house but here we will discuss some efficient ways of cleaning up the wash basin.
1) Usage of Natural Ingredients
This natural ingredient is available in every house and can be used regularly for the purpose of cleaning a basin. A natural way of cleaning up the Wash Basin and Sink is through the use of lemons, baking soda, and white vinegar. Lemon is known to be a good bactericide and can also be used as a bleach for tough stains. A combination of lemon, baking soda and vinegar can do wonders. Drizzle baking soda all over the sink and squeeze the lemon juice on top of it, so as to make the powder wet. Now scrub the Wash Basin and Sink with the same lemon peel or a soft scrubber (a tough scrubber can leave marks on the sink). Once you are done with the scrubbing, wash off all the paste with vinegar. Here, if you can’t tolerate the acidic smell of vinegar then you can simply wash it off with plain water.
These ingredients can also be used to clean up your clogged drain. Just pour plenty of baking soda into the drain and then add vinegar to it. And that’s how lemons are used to clean up the basin.
2) Usage of coconut shells
Coconut shells can act as a very good scrubbing material for basins and other home accessories. These shells are effortlessly available and can be used with ashes or any natural cleansing ingredient. This would be a good cleaning procedure with no use of artificial stuff. The rough skin of coconut will surely remove every detailed or small smack of dirt from the basin.
3) Usage of bleach liquid
If the sink or the basin is left uncleaned for a long period, it changes its color to yellowish or brownish. It is not possible naturally to get rid of such stains. For such dirt, synthetic chemical bleach shall be used which is readily available in the market. The bleach will turn the basin white and clean again. It also leaves a good smell later on. The drawback with this method is that it can only be used on sinks and white basin. Using it on a colored accessory could result in discoloration of it.
4) Using disinfectant
Any disinfectant such as Dettol could be used to make the washbasin clean and germfree. Any kind of disinfectant can be used for cleaning purpose. This not only helps to clean the house but also take care of the hygiene.
5) Cleaning of Faucets
It’s not only essential to clean up the sink or the basin, but the cleaning of faucets or taps is also of equal importance. The taps near the basin can be cleaned with white vinegar. Cover the taps with paper towels dipped in white vinegar for some time and then wipe it off with a dry towel. This will help in the cleaning of the faucets.
6) Removal of scratches
You can remove scratches and streaks from a stainless steel sink with the help of baby oil or olive oil. Take a little amount of oil on a clean piece of cloth and buff it on the affected areas. Additionally, stainless steel polishers and cleaners can be used to make the sink non-greasy and shiny. Furthermore, if you want to prevent your sink or basin from becoming dirty, then wipe the basin or sink with a dry paper towel or soft cloth after every use. This will clean up all the dirt deposits on it immediately and will also prevent any water spots over it.
